“I Don’t Know”: YouTuber Spills the Beans to an Unaware Gervonta Davis About Frank Martin
The final press conference of the Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin PBC pay-per-view on Amazon Prime concluded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. No prizes for guessing; it was fireworks all around. The fiery argument between the two ended dramatically. While facing each other, Davis lifted his hand for what was a fake punch. But the way he pulled it off, it forced a reaction from Martin. Thankfully, the matter didn’t go much further.
Later, ‘Tank’ was talking to YouTuber and sports commentator Wade Plemons. As the discussion continued, the lightweight champion soon learned a startling fact about his opponent. It was something he was hardly aware of. For sure, the Baltimorean must have thanked his luck for the sublime revelation. The event hosts the light heavyweight debut of David Benavidez. He will face Oleksandr Gvozdyk in the co-headline fight. The fight has attracted a fair share of attention since it marks ‘Tank’s return after a year-long break.

Wade Plemons referred to an imitation that Gervonta Davis seemingly did with his left hand. He said that most of the fans are apparently aware that Frank Martin is right-handed. So given his wrestling background, the way he stands gives it away. How? The YouTuber provided some details: “His wrestling days you start with that lead leg being your right leg; he’s not a left-handed guy.” But it seems he wanted to learn more from Davis.
He asked, “Is that what you’re seeing him not be natural throwing that left?” It surely did take the Baltimorean by surprise. He asked whether Frank Martin was right-handed or not. The YouTuber explained that he believes ‘The Ghost’ is essentially right-handed. However, like many, he picked up boxing as a southpaw. So going back to Davis using his left hand, Plemons asked him what he felt watching Martin throw his left hand.
Or, “You don’t think he’s got that left hand down, or what’s what’s going on with that?” The YouTuber asked. ‘ Tank replied that he was not aware of Frank Martin being a southpaw. Then Plemons touched upon Frank Martin’s wrestling background. Reportedly, the Detroit-born boxer picked up the grappling sport when he was in the 6th grade and followed it till his high school days.

So typically, when wrestlers break into takedowns, they tend to stand with their dominant leg leading in front. “I think you start with that lead leg being your dominant leg to shoot in on singles right,” said Wade Plemons. But by then, he wondered whether he had been revealing too much information or not. But ‘Tank’ Davis was happy. “Yeah, you are, you are cuz I did not know I don’t know,” he said.
Left or right, bring it on!

But for all his lack of knowledge about his opponent, the fact remains that Gervonta Davis, a southpaw himself, seems to have an upper hand in terms of experience fighting another left-handed boxer. Last year, he took down Hector Luis Garcia in January. The Dominican boxer was an acknowledged southpaw. But in ‘Tank’, Frank Martin faces his first left-handed opponent. Hence, it will be interesting to see how two southpaws react while squaring up in the ring. ‘The Ghost’ lacks the Baltimorean’s deadly knockout power. But if he is able to draw the latter over the distance, exposing chinks in the armor, then he stands a chance to stage an upstage as well!
What are your views? Do you think the new information would aid Gervonta Davis greatly?
