Woman dies in serious house fire
A woman has died in a serious house fire in Nottingham.
The blaze broke out at about 21:30 BST on Friday, in Ashworth Close, Sneinton.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services said a woman, aged in her 60s, was discovered inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.
A joint investigation between the fire services and Nottinghamshire Police has indicated that the fire was not suspicious.
On a social media post, the fire service described the blaze as serious.
Crews from London Road and Arnold Fire Station were called to the scene and it was quickly put out.
Fire service group manager Jonathan Holford, said: “We would like to pass our deepest condolences to the family, friends and everyone affected by this sad incident.
“We will be out in the local community in the coming days to offer reassurance to local residents, which will include free smoke alarm fittings.
“It is imperative that every household in Nottinghamshire has working smoke alarms on every level of their home.”
