Boniface Sets Sights On German Cup Final
Victor Boniface has put behind him the disappointment of losing the Europa League final and sets his sights on this weekend’s German Cup final.
A hat-trick from Ademola Lookman secured Atalanta a 3-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin on Wednesday.
It was Atalanta’s first-ever European title and also their first major trophy since 1963.
Boniface and his Nigerian teammate Nathan Tella came on in the second half but could not do anything to salvage the game for the new Bundesliga champions.
However, Leverkusen can land the double as they will take on Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final on Saturday.
Reflecting on Wednesday’s game, Boniface wrote on his X handle: “It’s part of the work. One more to go.”
Leverkusen will go into Saturday’s clash with Kaiserslautern in search of a second German Cup title and their first since 1993.
