It’s nice to see Barkley taking time off to enjoy himself amidst the “stressful” time in TNT.
Will TNT lose NBA rights? What does Charles Barkley have to do with this?
There’s a big question on TNT’s future. As per a report by The Wall Street Journal, Comcast, which owns NBC made an offer to pay $2.5 billion yearly for the NBA rights, which is almost twice as much money as TNT does. TNT currently pays $1.2 billion per year. That leaves us with the question of whether the company will retain the NBA rights once the deal ends.

Without basketball, there’s a chance that Chuck and other NBA players turned analysts will no longer be a part of the crew. Previously, Sir Charles has hinted at the fact. “I want to make it clear; I love TNT. I love everybody at TNT, and they’ve been great for me. But I don’t want to be in limbo if we lose the NBA. That wouldn’t be fair to me,” the 11x NBA All-Star said in an interview on The Dan Patrick Show.

Another interesting twist is the clause that the Philadelphia 76ers legend recently revealed. As per the clause, he has the option to leave the show if TNT fails to retain the NBA TV rights upon their expiration next year. In any case, it’s uncertain what the future holds for TNT.
