Drone films burned-out Luton Airport car park’s demolition
Aerial footage has captured demolition work at an airport car park six months after it was destroyed by fire.
The blaze at London Luton’s Terminal Car Park 2 on 10 October grounded aircraft, disrupted the travel plans of thousands and trapped 1,300 vehicles inside.
An airport spokesperson said 60% of the structure had been dismantled and work was expected to be completed in May.
Chief executive officer Alberto Martin said: “The dismantling of the car park has been a precise and painstaking process, and its proximity to passengers, buildings, aircraft and the Luton DART railway station has added to the project’s complexity.”
The building of a new four-storey car park, featuring a fire suppressant system, is due to start later in the year.
