Team to Win, Form, News

Fulham and Newcastle have both been inconsistent recently, but it should prove to be an entertaining affair between the pair at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The home side have enjoyed another impressive season under Marco Silva, who is well on his way to establishing the Cottagers as a solid, established Premier League team again.

Newcastle, meanwhile, haven’t matched the lofty heights of last season when they qualified for the Champions League as they currently sit in eighth. But, Eddie Howe has had to deal with an almost laughable injury list throughout the campaign.

Current Form

Fulham’s Current Form

It has been all about the number three for Fulham recently as at the weekend they lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest and prior to that they drew 3-3 with Sheffield Utd and defeated Tottenham 3-0.

Silva’s men proved with that Spurs win that they can take down the big guns, but they struggled to match that performance level against two lesser teams in the following matches.

Newcastle’s Current Form

Newcastle’s bubble was burst late on during the week as, despite leading most of the game against Everton, they drew 1-1 after a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty from the visitors.

The game before that was the dramatic 4-3 victory against West Ham which would have sent confidence soaring.

The last two games have arguably summed up their inconsistency as a whole this season.

Silva has every single first team player available to him for this game, but changes to the starting XI are more than likely, especially after his triple substitution in the 33rd minute against Forest which saw Alex Iwobi, Sasa Lukic and Harry Wilson all withdrawn.

It was the second-earliest triple substitution in Premier League history.

Conversely, Newcastle are ravaged by injuries, like they have been all season.

Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are long-term absentees after suffering serious knee injuries recently, while Lewis Miley, Callum Wilson, Nick Pope, Miguel Almiron, Tino Livramento, Joelinton, Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett are also unavailable with more short-term issues.

Sandro Tonali remains suspended, but Anthony Gordon will be welcomed back into the starting XI after serving a one-game ban.

Silva will have cracked the whip this week so we can expect a much better performance from Fulham than they managed versus Forest, but Newcastle will be buoyed by the return of Anthony Gordon so this could be a high-scoring draw.

Fulham 2-2 Newcastle.
