Following Salt’s departure, Narine assumed the mantle of KKR’s batting alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi, orchestrating a splendid 104-run partnership and guiding their team to 164/2 in 12.2 overs. However, the Delhi Capitals found some respite by dismissing the duo in the 13th and 14th over respectively. Yet, the runs continued to flow abundantly as Kolkata’s power hitters Rinku Singh and Andre Russell posed a menacing threat, propelling the score to 264/5 by the 19th over, making it the second-highest score in IPL history. However, their pursuit of surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record of 277 runs was halted by Delhi’s Ishant Sharma, who delivered a sublime yorker to dismiss Russell, batting at an astonishing strike rate of 215.
