Brighton vs Chelsea (1-1) Jan 18, 2022 Match Preview and Stats

Thomas Tuchel will be adamant that his Chelsea side bounce back from the weekend’s defeat to Manchester City with all three points against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.

The Stamford Bridge side now sit 13 points off Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions and certainly can’t afford to drop any more points this season.

Unfortunate for the Chelsea manager, his side remains decimated by injuries across the entire pitch.

In defence, Tuchel remains without Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Trevor Chalobah through injury and central defender Andreas Christensen remains in isolation with COVID. The club are also without Edouard Mendy, who is still away on international duty.

The Chelsea manager is likely to make some changes in midfield too, where Mason Mount and Jorginho are likely to return to the starting XI in one form or another.

Similarly, Tuchel may turn to compatriots Kai Havertz or Timo Werner to provide some pace and cutting edge in attack for Romelu Lukaku, who looked notably isolated against Man City at the weekend.
