Player Rating and performance versus Wolfsburg
Jadon Sancho started the new year at Dortmund as he means to go on by netting his first Bundesliga goal of the season in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.
But how did the Man Utd target perform overall?
Dortmund 2-0 Wolfsburg: Player Ratings, Match Stats, Player Stats
Sancho’s performance in the first half was a little laboured and he missed a clear opportunity to score. Clearly, his lack of goal contributions has been weighing on his mind.
But the second half was a different story.
A ⏱️ 65’ Sancho’s sweeping corner from the right met the towering head of Manuel Akanji, who blasted his effort into the corner of the net to break the deadlock.
⚽ ⏱️ 90’ And Sancho broke away to seal the victory, staying on the halfway line and slaloming his way around the defender before confidently slotting into the net.
From a creative perspective Sancho’s six completed dribbles was the most he has managed in any match this season, indicating that the confidence that has been a problem could be on the return, also firing in a game-high eight crosses.

Sancho was also excellent in his previous outing, albeit in the DFB Pokal against Braunschweig, where he scored and provided an assist on the way to an 8.2 FC Rating.
But here he improved upon that mark further, earning an 8.8 FC Rating for his display against Wolfsburg.

Sancho: What Next?
There’s been whispers coming from Manchester that United feel content that they missed out on Sancho last summer given his form.
And while Sancho’s numbers don’t yet match up to his incredible form from last year, it doesn’t make him a bad player overnight. Hopefully this performance will see the young England star return to a level where United are coveting his signature once more.
