Warriors’ Draymond Green Has Outrageous Prediction for Chiefs’ 2024 Season
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green revealed an outrageous prediction regarding the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 season this week on the Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football? show with FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Green predicted that the Chiefs, who are currently 9-0 and the undisputed best team in the NFL, will lose their first playoff game this season.
“The Kansas City Chiefs will lose the first playoff game they play,” Green said.
Schultz quickly responded, “Oh, stop it,” and then pointed out that their first playoff game will be at home. Green responded: “They’ll lose.”
What’s Green’s rationale for this take?
“They are missing vital moments to improve,” Green said. “They’re just hanging on. They’re winning because they know how to win. Just because you get those players back, you still have to be getting better. And just adding guys back into the lineup don’t just make you better as a team. It makes you more talented, it makes you more capable, it makes you more dangerous. But it doesn’t necessarily make you a better team.”

Green is referring to the reinforcements coming the Chiefs way in the form of running back Isiah Pacheco, defensive end Charles Omenihu, and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
However, Green believes the Chiefs aren’t improving this season, and rather just getting by. He thinks that will ultimately come back to bite them in the playoffs.
“Right now, for the first 9-10 weeks of the season, they have not become a better team,” Green said. “Those are vital weeks, there’s only 18. For nine or 10 weeks, y’all just been hanging on because, ‘We the Chiefs and we know how to win.’
“But I’m telling you, they aren’t getting better. And there’s other teams out there going through s*** getting better. And they not. And watch. They’ll pay for it.”
The Chiefs are the lone unbeaten team in the NFL, but seven of their nines wins have come by one score. Moreover, their largest margin of victory this season was a 13-point victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
To Green’s point, the Chiefs are squeaking by, most recently in Week 10 when they beat the Denver Broncos by blocking the potential game-winning field goal as time expired.
However, the Chiefs consistently find ways to win, and are coming off back-to-back Super Bowl victories.
The Chiefs are seemingly never out of a game with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, and they’ve won 15 consecutive games (including the playoffs) dating back to last season, a franchise record.
However, despite all their success, Green thinks their season will come to a screeching halt during their first playoff game, whether it be during the Wild Card or Divisional Round.
