Classmates cheer on twins’ charity fundraiser
An eight-year-old boy with cerebral palsy has been cheered on by his classmates as he walked around a school playground with his twin brother to raise money for Children in Need.
Murray and his brother Will took on the challenge on Wednesday at Christ Church CE Primary and Nursery Academy in St Leonards, East Sussex, and raised £100.
As well as hoping to raise money for those less fortunate, Murray also wanted the challenge to make him famous.
He told BBC Radio Sussex that he heard he was going to be in a newspaper and he was looking forward to buying it before it sold out.
Will explained that he still took part in the challenge despite twisting his ankle at break time.
Although he was nervous before the challenge, after crossing the line Murray said: “I feel great and I feel great that my friends are there to support me and my family and everyone else.”
He added: “My legs feel like they’re about to break.”
Teacher Jodie Cobb said Murray was “the perfect boy”.
“I can’t tell you how proud we are, all of us, of him. He’s done such an amazing job.”
She explained that Murray was so popular among students he could have had his own fan club.
“Even with the teachers he has his own fan club, so everybody loves him.”
Mum Katie said she was “incredibly proud” of her sons.
