NASCAR Legend Kyle Busch Takes on New Challenge in Move Away from NASCAR

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch is about to start an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career by entering the world of midget car racing.

Widely celebrated as a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Busch has partnered with FloSports to make his debut in the Lucas Oil midget car category. He is set to compete at the storied 39th Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, which will take place from January 13 to January 18, 2025, at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This prestigious event is commonly referred to as the ‘Super Bowl of midget racing’ and draws a sizable roster of over 300 competitors.

Before diving into the Chili Bowl, Busch will focus his skills in the midget car category by joining in on several USAC National Midget events. Scheduled appearances include Bakersfield Speedway on November 26 and Ventura Raceway on November 30.

These races will offer him the opportunity to gain valuable experience, switching from the high-speed tracks of NASCAR to the nimble midget cars, a substantially different motorsport compared to his usual racing. The United States Auto Club’s (USAC) National Midget series is known for its competitive nature and respected standing within open-wheel car racing in the United States, and we’re very excited to see what he can extract from his time there.

The Chili Bowl Nationals is an event rich with history, having attracted top-tier drivers from various motorsport disciplines, including NASCAR greats like Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, and Christopher Bell. Kyle Busch joins this group with excitement, via NASCAR:

“The Cup Season may be over, but the Racing season is still in full swing with the biggest events on dirt taking place over the next couple of months. The Chili Bowl is a legendary event and has always been on my wish-list. To be able to compete there, and then alongside my son Brexton at the Tulsa Shootout, is making this year one to remember.”

He joins the sport alongside his son, with them racing side by side at the Tulsa Shootout from December 31 to January 4.

Known for his versatility, the Las Vegas native has a record of success across several NASCAR series, including the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series. His move to the midget racing scene will push his skills behind the wheel further, with the driver adamant to prove he is a master of multiple disciplines.

With the high power-to-weight ratio of midget cars, these machines demand a different skill set, a test that Busch seems eager to embrace.
