Ugarte finally arrives at M
It seems Manchester United fans are finally seeing why the club paid a huge transfer fee to Paris Saint-Germain to sign Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguay midfielder enjoyed what was his best performance in a Man Utd shirt at the weekend, earning a 8.3 FC Rating in the 3-0 win against Leicester.
It was his defensive work in the middle of the pitch that contributed to that rating, as he won 10 duels and six tackles and made seven ball recoveries and three interceptions. He only misplaced four out of an attempted 51 passes.
He wasn’t, however, the best performer of the weekend…
Premier League Player of the Week – Yoane Wissa
One of the most entertaining games of Matchday 11 took place at the Gtech Community Stadium as Brentford completed a dramatic comeback to beat Bournemouth 3-2 after twice going behind.
Yoane Wissa was the main reason the comeback was completed as he twice clawed his team back level with a couple of goals. The first was an instinctive header at the back post, while the second came via a delightful dink over the keeper after a marvellous Brentford move up the pitch.
No player in this round of fixtures had more touches in the opposition box than the Bees forward.
Who else made the Team of the Week?
Bruno Fernandes (8.4) has looked a completely new player since Erik ten Hag departed Old Trafford. While the Dutchman was there, he failed to score this season, but in the short tenure of caretaker boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, he scored four goals in four games, including a lovely strike against Leicester on Sunday.
Wissa is joined in the Premier League Team of the Week forward line by Joao Pedro (8.2), who came off the bench to score Brighton’s equaliser against Man City before registering an assist for the winner, and Matheus Cunha (8.0) who scored as Wolves won their first game of the season against Southampton.
Joelinton (8.2) and Emile Smith Rowe (7.8) make up the rest of the midfield.
The best-performing defender of the weekend was yet another United player, as Lisandro Martinez (7.9) impressed against the Foxes. The Argentine won 100% of his tackles (6/6) and 100% of his aerial duels (2/2) and had 95 touches of the ball.
Everton earned a 0-0 draw away at West Ham largely due to the performance of Jordan Pickford (8.3), who made no less than six saves between the sticks.
