Inter vs Arsenal Predicted Lineups
One of the more high profile matches of Matchday Four in the Champions League sees Italian champions Inter host Arsenal at San Siro.
In terms of team selection for both clubs, this could be an Interesting one as both have big games coming up this weekend, so Simone Inzaghi and Mikel Arteta have some thinking to do.
Here’s how the squads are shaping up.
Inter received a scare at the weekend as star defender Alessandro Bastoni was withdrawn with 20 minutes to go against Venezia, but it has since been confirmed that he was simply suffering some cramp, so should be fit here. Carlos Augusto is the only player out, but he’ll be back after the International break.
Reports from Italy suggest Inzaghi is prioritising this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash against Napoli and is considering resting key players like Nicolo Barella, Marcus Thuram, Federico Dimarco and Bastoni.
Last Inter Lineup
Here’s how Inter lined up against Venezia.
Mikel Arteta has been dealing with plenty of injuries to defenders recently as Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori and Kieran Tierney remain absent, though Ben White and Gabriel should be fine after recovering from knocks of their own.
This could be the game that we see Martin Odegaard make his return from injury, and he might be thrown in from the start due to a recent injury suffered by fellow midfielder Declan Rice.
Here’s how Arsenal lined up against Newcastle.
Should the aforementioned four players be rested by Inzaghi, then we will see Davide Frattesi, Matteo Darmian, Mehdi Taremi and Yann Bisseck come into the starting XI.
At the moment, it’s a toss-up between Hakan Calhanoglu and Piotr Zielinski in midfield.
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bisseck; Dumfries, Calhanoglu, Frattesi, Mkhitaryan, Darmian; Taremi, Martinez
With White available, Thomas Partey will move back into midfield alongside Mikel Merino and Odegaard if Arteta decides to start the Norwegian.
Kai Havertz will start at centre-forward flanked by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, though Leandro Trossard is another option on the left.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Merino, Odegaard; Saka, Martinelli, Havertz
