Jenna Dewan’s Fiancé Has Bold Reaction to Channing Tatum Split
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Steve Kazee caused quite the stir with his latest Instagram Story.
The 49-year-old actor, who is engaged to Jenna Dewan, posted the word “HAHA” over and over again on a black background the same day that it was revealed that Dewan’s ex, Channing Tatum, had split from fiancée Zoe Kravitz.
Seeing as just a month ago, Dewan, 43, celebrated finalizing her divorce from Tatum, 44, — which had become contentious, with Tatum’s lawyers requesting in August that Dewan be “sanctioned in the sum of $20,000” for allegedly trying to prolong the divorce case — many thought Kazee was laughing at Tatum and Kravitz’ breakup.
Fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to condemn the response, calling it “immature” and “rude.” One person posted, “I still don’t know why Jenna Dewan’s boyfriend Steve Kazee is laughing about the end of Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz’s relationship on his Instagram story. It said a lot about the person!”
Others pointed out that Dewan and Tatum share a daughter — Everly, 11 — meaning Kazee will have to continue to interact with the Blink Twice star. “That’s rude considering he is stepfather to Channings daughter. They will be in each other’s lives as long as he and Jenna are together,” someone commented.
Kazee, however, maintained the response was to a TikTok video about forgetting to water your plants, which he added to his stories after the “HAHA” post. A rep for the Tony winner echoed these sentiments to Page Six, saying the video was relatable to Kazee, because forgetting to water his plants is “something he’s notorious for at home.”
The father-of-two — who shares son Callum, 4, and daughter Rhiannon, 4 months, with Dewan — followed up his initial Instagram Stories with another post of text on a black background, which read, “A guy can’t laugh about a houseplant TikTok in todays world I see…”
In the next Story, he shared a picture of a plant that looked like it needed watering, commenting, “See? It’s funny because it’s relatable. Get a life.” He continued adding footage of his dry plants, noting on one video, “the most damning part,” before pivoting to show a countertop water filter sitting just inches away from the dying plant.
Dewan and Tatum, who met working on the 2006 film Step Up, were married for nine years, before announcing their separation in 2018. Dewan began dating Kazee in 2018, and the pair became engaged in 2020.
Tatum and Kravitz, 35, began dating after meeting on the set of their film, Blink Twice. They gushed about each other at the premiere, with Kravitz saying, “It’s really very cool to get to make a movie, but when you get to do it with the love of your life, it’s even cooler.” The two became engaged in October 2023.
