USWNT vs. Iceland lineups, live stream: How to watch Kelley O’Hara ceremony, odds, pick, prediction

The U.S. women’s national team Olympic celebration tour continues against Iceland on Sunday. The USWNT defeated Iceland on Thursday, 3-1, and the two sides will meet for a second time during the international window before closing out the October international window against Argentina on Wednesday.

In line with the victory tour includes milestone celebrations. Emily Sonnett was honored for 100 appearances with the national team, and on Sunday the program will recognize the 100-cap mark for forward Mallory Swanson. The 26-year-old Swanson scored the game-winning goal during the gold medal match against Brazil in the Olympics. The program will also honor two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Kelley O’Hara in a halftime ceremony,

O’Hara previously announced her retirement in May, effective after her club season with NJ/NY Gotham FC, but the veteran defender was placed on the season-ending injury list with chronic knee degeneration and was recently honored at a Gotham home game. The former World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist will be celebrated during halftime against Iceland.

Here are some of O’Hara’s top moments and how to watch the game:

Top Kelley O’Hara moments

O’Hara was a regular starter for the USWNT and featured in every senior national team tournament from 2011 to 2023. She closes her international career with 160 caps, ranked 21st all-time in U.S. history, and played 10,287 minutes, being one of just 23 players to surpass the 10,000-minute mark. She scored three goals during her USWNT career and delivered 21 assists.

So let’s take a look at some of her most memorable moments in a USWNT jersey:

2012 London Olympics

Fans got an early glimpse of O’Hara’s ability during the 2011 World Cup run but the 2012 London Games really launched her into the outside back conversation. Already known as one of the squad’s most versatile players, she was tasked with playing every minute during the USWNT’s incredible gold medal run.

2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup

During this era, the program was still on the hunt for its next World Cup win post-1999 success. The team fell short in the 2011 tournament, O’Hara’s first with the team, and with the World Cup held in Canada in 2015, there was a layer of pressure with such proximity to the United States.

As the group met Germany in the semifinal, a World Cup juggernaut, it felt like a massive test before meeting the “final boss” in a video game. O’Hara was subbed into the second half to shake things up down the stretch and she delivered the most memorable game-sealing goal, a darting run into the box and a timed flying volley that iced a 2-0 semifinal victory against Germany

2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup

In a similar fashion to the 2012 Olympics, O’Hara played a lot of minutes during the 2019 World Cup. She was the defacto USWNT right back and came up big in key moments for the team. During the semifinal against England, O’Hara delivered a precise cross on a Christen Press finish, and the opening goal helped the team punch their ticket to the World Cup final and went on to win their fourth World Cup title.

USWNT vs. Iceland prediction

After a rusty start during Thursday’s win, watch out for some adjustments from the coaching staff. There might even be some more international debuts, which means maybe some more tense moments, but that won’t stop a potential path to victory. Pick: USWNT 2, Iceland 1
