Tragedy strikes as Moroccan football star passes away
Tragedy has struck and so the Moroccan national team is grieving after the sudden death of former player Abdelaziz Barrada at the age of 35.
Barrada began his professional career in France with Sénart-Moissy before joining Paris Saint-Germain’s B team from 2007 to 2010. Over the years, he played for clubs such as Lusitanos Saint-Maur, Getafe in Spain, Marseille, Al-Jazira, Al-Nasr, Al Shahania, and Antalyaspor.
During his time with Marseille, the midfielder made 33 league appearances, scoring two goals over two seasons. Barrada also represented Morocco on the international stage in 2012.
According to reports from Moroccan outlet Hespress, Barrada passed away after suffering a heart attack in the afternoon.
The Moroccan Football Association and his former club, Marseille, confirmed the news, expressing their sorrow.
Marseille honoured Barrada in a heartfelt message shared on social media:
“Rest in peace Abdelaziz. Olympique de Marseille learned with sadness of the death of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada.
“Arriving in the summer of 2014, the attacking midfielder wore the colours of OM for two seasons.
“The club sends its sincere condolences to his family and shares in the grief of his loved ones.”
