Reds look to maintain 100% record

Liverpool aim to make it three wins out of three in the new Champions League league phase this Wednesday when they face RB Leipzig in Germany.

The Reds started their campaign with an impressive 3-1 away win against Milan at San Siro before returning to Anfield for a 2-0 home win versus Bologna.

Match Preview

RB Leipzig Recent Form

While Liverpool have won both their Champions League matches, RB Leipzig are one of a handful of teams to have lost both their opening games. On Matchday One they lost against Atletico Madrid and on Matchday Two they lost 3-2 at home against Juventus despite twice going into the lead.

They have performed better in the Bundesliga and are unbeaten overall, winning their last three in a row versus Augsburg, Heidenheim and Mainz.

RB Leipzig Injury News

Xaver Schlager, David Raum, Nicolas Seiwald and Assan Ouedraogo are definitely out, while there are concerns over Lois Openda and Amadou Haidara, who both suffered knocks over the weekend.

Openda himself has played down the severity of that injury, however.

Liverpool Recent Form

Things couldn’t really be going better for Liverpool at the moment as they have won both of their Champions League matches so far while also enjoying their place at the top of the Premier League.

They have won seven games in a row in all competitions, beating Bournemouth, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League and West Ham in the League Cup in addition to those wins in Europe.

The only blip on their season record so far was a surprise home defeat to Nottingham Forest in the league.

Liverpool Injury News

Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott are still out for the Reds, while the perennially injured Federico Chiesa remains a doubt.

Diogo Jota had to be withdrawn against Chelsea and it seems unlikely he’ll recover for this one.

Last Liverpool Lineup

Here’s how Liverpool lined up against Chelsea.

RB Leipzig – Player To Watch

With Openda perhaps not fully fit, there will be further pressure thrust upon the shoulders of centre-forward Benjamin Sesko, who was linked with Liverpool in the summer along with Arsenal and a few other elite clubs.

Liverpool – Player To Watch

It is likely that Darwin Nunez will be given a start here if Jota is not fully fit so the Uruguayan will certainly be eager to impress Arne Slot. He’s started just three games so far this campaign.

RB Leipzig vs Liverpool – Prediction

Leipzig have struggled in the Champions League this season, displaying a lack of ruthlessness, particularly against Juventus. Liverpool are much better than both Atletico and Juventus and are flying at the moment, so should claim all three points, albeit potentially in a narrow fashion.

Scoreline prediction – RB Leipzig 1-2 Liverpool
