Kamala Harris Shares Reasons She Loves Gen Z

Kamala Harris has shared the reasons why she loves Gen Z at a campaign event in Pennsylvania in conversation with former Republican Representative Liz Cheney on Monday.

Harris was asked what she envisions as the next chapter for the country if she were to be elected president. In response, Harris discussed moving on from the last decade of divisive political discourse, rekindling the ambitious spirit of the American people, and redefining which jobs require experience or apprenticeships as opposed to college degrees.

“These are the kinds of things that are about seeing the opportunity of this moment and investing in it.” she said.

The vice president added, “I’ll tell you — and I know this is a controversial topic for many of us — I love Gen Z. We have Gen Zs in our lives, we have kids who are Gen Z.”

“These young leaders,” Harris said, “They’re clear-eyed, they’ve only known the climate crisis, they’ve only known active shooter drills, I mean we had fire drills, not our kids.”

She went on to say Gen Z are “so wonderfully impatient,” explaining, “No really, that’s good. They’re ready to get in there. Let’s invest in them.”

According to an NBC poll in September, 50 percent of Gen Z respondents supported Harris, while 34 percent backed Trump.

This is not the first time Harris spoken about Gen Z in a positive light. In a video shared by her campaign on September 18, the VP also referred to Gen Z as “impatient in every incredible, good way.”

She also deemed Gen Z “brilliant,” adding, “You’re not waiting for someone else to step up and lead, you are saying you will step up and get it done. Isn’t that the spirit of our country that makes us strong.”

The post accumulated more than 1.1 million views.

In July, Harris appeared in a video for Voters of Tomorrow, a Gen Z-led movement that engages, educates, and represents young Americans in politics and government. Harris talked about the importance of Gen Z’s vote.

She said, “iIn this election, we know young voters will be key, and we know your vote cannot be taken for granted. It must be earned and that is exactly what we will do.”

The vice president has one Gen Z step-child, the daughter of her husband Doug Emhoff, Ella, who is 25 years old. She is also a stepmother to Cole, who at 30 is a young millennial.
