Salisbury Cathedral light bulb change requires a head for heights

Every four years someone has to take on a challenge that is not for the faint hearted – changing the light bulb on the UK’s tallest cathedral spire.

Salisbury Cathedral’s spire stands at 404ft (123m) – 38ft higher than St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

This time it was Gary Price, clerk of works at Salisbury Cathedral, who braved the lofty task.

He said it was “much colder and windier” than he thought it would be.
