The Truth Behind Diddy’s Major Physical Transformation Amid Sex Crimes Scandal

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Sean “Diddy” Combs was seen for the first time since heading to jail nearly one month ago — and he looks noticeably different.

While cameras were not allowed inside the New York City courtroom on Thursday, October 10, the 54-year-old rapper appeared thinner in courtroom sketches released that day. Diddy’s face, in particular, appeared more narrow; his cheeks slightly gaunt.

Rumors have persisted that the disgraced hip-hop mogul hasn’t been eating in jail due to fears he would be poisoned — and even Diddy’s own lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters outside the courthouse on Thursday that “the food’s probably the roughest part” of the rapper’s time in jail.

Still, sources told TMZ on Friday, October 11, that not only is Diddy eating while behind bars — the reason he appears thinner now is because he was actually losing weight prior to his September arrest.

The outlet reported on Friday that Diddy had started a “physical and mental health regimen to stay healthy” while holing up in his Miami mansion throughout most of the year. (The Bad Boy executive’s Miami and Los Angeles homes were raided by the FBI in March.)

Diddy has been sitting behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since mid-September, when he was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and plans to testify at his trial, which was set on Thursday for May 5, 2025.

In addition to these federal charges, the “All About the Benjamins” artist has since been accused of sexually assaulting more than 100 additional victims, including minors.

Diddy’s family was on hand to support the rapper during his court appearance on Thursday — including his mom, Janice Combs, as well as the majority of his children. They were all photographed leaving together hand in hand.
