Spain defeats England 2-1 to win Euro 2024 trophy

Spain controlled the game, and Nico Williams scored the opening goal just two minutes into the second half after a great run and pass from Lamine Yamal. This goal came despite Spain losing Rodri to an injury at half-time.

England’s captain Harry Kane had a disappointing game and was substituted. His replacement, Cole Palmer, became a hero for England by scoring a fantastic goal to level the score. Palmer fired Jude Bellingham’s pass into the net, giving England hope.

As the match seemed to be heading for extra time, Spain regained control. England’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, made two brilliant saves, denying Yamal, who was later named the young player of the tournament.

However, Spain’s winning moment came with four minutes left. Marc Cucurella crossed the ball, and Mikel Oyarzabal scored to give Spain the lead.

England had a chance to equalize when Declan Rice’s header from Palmer’s corner was saved by Unai Simon. Marc Guehi tried to score from the rebound, but Dani Olmo cleared it off the line. Rice missed another rebound attempt.

In the end, Spain held on to win, becoming the first team to claim four European Championships.
