Why ‘Annoyed’ Man Called The Police Over Neighbor’s Home Renovation
A man has horrified the internet after revealing what his neighbor’s renovation project did to his balcony, but social media users have lauded his way of dealing with it.
Reddit user u/Kraftyr, who goes by the name Feli, took to social media to share a photo revealing the state of his balcony after his neighbors had a construction crew working on their home. The picture shows a thick layer of dust covering the balcony area and everything in it—including his beloved plants.
Feli, of Almeria, Spain, told Newsweek that he was really “quite annoyed” when he saw everything outside “covered in filth.” He tried to clean it up but that only made matters worse as the dust dispersed into the air and covered his clothes too.
“When they started the renovations on the exterior walls, the crew had to break down the outer layer so the whole street got covered in dust,” Feli said.
“It was so bad that when I tried to clean it with a broom, it went all over the place. I had to go back inside to clean myself up because my legs were all dusty.”
Feli adds that he didn’t even know the neighbors were having their house renovated until he “found out the hard way” on July 2.
He spoke to the builders about the mess they’d caused on his property and asked them to clean it, but that didn’t go down so well. He told Newsweek that they laughed at him, so he took matters into his own hands by calling the police.
“They didn’t take it well when I asked them to clean my balcony, but they took it better when the police told them to. The police were formidable, and they took the proper measures and told me I was getting a free cleaning crew,” he said.
Sadly for Feli, the balcony is still dusty as the renovations are ongoing, but he’s hopeful that it will be thoroughly cleaned once the project is complete.
In the meantime, he shared his frustration by posting about the experience on Reddit in the “mildly infuriating” thread. Alongside the picture of his mostly gray balcony and a small black patch of concrete, Feli explained that he “swept a small section to show how it should look.”
The post went viral with more than 1.3 million views and 11,000 votes in just a matter of days. While many people offered Feli their cleaning advice to remove the dust, he said it made him “feel good” to receive so much support online.
With over 240 comments on the Reddit post already, social media users were quick to offer their tips, and others backed Feli for taking action. One comment reads: “Yeah, that’s more than just a bit of dust. They absolutely should clean up after themselves.”
Another person responded: “Tell them they need to put up some plastic to protect your property.”
A third Reddit user commented: “When you sweep the whole thing, make sure you wear a mask.”
