Victor Osimhen participates in Napoli medical ahead of new season
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned for Napoli’s pre-season, even as he hopes for a move to the Premier League. SportsRation reports.
Despite having clear intentions to leave, Osimhen is back in training with Napoli, aiming to maintain his fitness and readiness for the upcoming season.
Osimhen has expressed his desire to play in England, especially after helping Napoli win the Scudetto title in 2023. The 25-year-old was given a new contract with a salary increase and a €130 million release clause, reflecting his value and potential. However, his performance last season was hindered by injuries and Napoli’s instability, which has complicated his transfer prospects.
The Nigerian striker remains a top target, but the high release clause has made it challenging for European clubs to secure his transfer. Nevertheless, clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest and are willing to meet the release clause, keeping that option open for Osimhen.
As the 2024/25 season approaches, Osimhen has started the preseason routine with medical examinations and training.
Images of him in Napoli gear have surfaced, indicating his commitment to staying fit. It remains uncertain if he will complete the preseason with Napoli or secure his desired move to the Premier League.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have separately been linked to the Nigerian forward but no concrete bid has been made yet.
