Kanu Thumbs Up Governor Otti For Support To Enyimba
After what he described as a fruitful 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season, chairman of Enyimba International, Nwankwo Kanu, has thanked the governor of Abia State, Chief Alex Otti supporting the team, Completesports.com reports.
Enyimba finished third in the 2023/2024 NPFL season with 63 points from 38 games, seven points behind champions Rangers International and two points behind second-placed Remo Stars. The two time CAF Champions League and nine time Nigerian top flight league champions will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next year while Rangers International and Remo Stars will feature in the CAF Champions League.
Speaking to Completesports.com in Aba recently, Kanu said that the governor’s support during the season was overwhelming and gave the team morale to fight for honor notwithstanding the odds.

“The governor gave us a blank cheque of financial and moral support to succeed and I am happy we did not disappoint him. We promised him the trophy but could not deliver on that, though we made visible efforts to achieve that. I don’t want to talk about what happened but we thank God and move on,” Kanu told Completesports.com
“He has shown through his support for Enyimba, the reality of his transformational agenda for Abia State. He has demonstrated his love for youth development in the area of football by sponsoring four clubs in the state; Enyimba International, Abia Warriors, Abia Comets and Abia Angels.
“By the grace of God, two Abia State teams will be in the continent if Abia Warriors lift the President Cup and that will be historic in less than 18 months in office.
“I am happy to cut my teeth of football administration in such a time as this and a man with such passion for football development as governor of Abia State. All I can promise him is that Enyimba will do better next season,” Kanu concluded.
