‘Osimhen was wrong, NFF too’ – Victor Anichebe weighs in on trending Super Eagles controversy
Osimhen, who missed the crucial games against South Africa and Benin Republic, expressed his frustration in a widely-discussed Instagram Live session, criticizing George for allegedly questioning his commitment to the national team.
In response, Anichebe criticized Osimhen for handling the matter publicly. On Instagram, Anichebe remarked, “This is something we really lack in Nigeria. We just love negativity and drama. VO was wrong to come out publicly.”
Acknowledging the challenge of managing emotions in such situations, Anichebe suggested that the issue should have been resolved privately to avoid unnecessary public scrutiny. “I’m sure he understands this now, but in the heat of the moment, it’s difficult,” Anichebe added, recognizing Osimhen’s desire to protect his reputation and dedication to the national team.
Beyond the controversy involving Osimhen and George, Anichebe took aim at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), calling for a radical overhaul. Expressing dissatisfaction with the federation’s leadership and decision-making, Anichebe criticized what he perceived as a lack of vision and professionalism. “The whole federation is a complete and utter mess, completely clueless, lacking foresight, no clue about football,” he asserted.
Anichebe went further, questioning the transparency of the NFF’s recruitment processes and alleging nepotism in their decisions. He called for the disbandment of the organization, advocating for a fresh start to ensure better governance and accountability.
