Five Scotland fans in hospital after car crash in Germany
Five Scotland football fans are in hospital after their hire car crashed as they drove away from a German airport on the wrong side of the road.
The men, two aged 25 and three aged 23, were heading for the opening match of Euro 2024 in Munich after arriving in Dusseldorf.
But their Citroen C3 crashed head-on into a Mercedes as it made its way to the airport terminal exit.
The Scottish driver, who was suspected of being over the alcohol limit, had a blood sample taken by police in hospital.
The 25-year-old and a 23-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries in the crash.
The other Scotland fans and the 45-year-old driver of the Mercedes were slightly injured.
Scotland play tournament hosts Germany in the opening match of Euro 2024 later.
Tens of thousands of fans arrived in Munich ahead of the game.
Most will watch the match on large screens erected in public squares in the city.
The entrance to the fan zone, in the north west of Munich, was closed more than five hours before kick-off as it had reached its 25,000 capacity.
