Man Goes Viral After Server Catches Him Doing ‘Strangest Thing’
A server in North Carolina has gone viral on social media after revealing the bizarre thing she saw a diner doing recently, and now he’s responded to explain what was really happening.
During a shift at the restaurant where she works, Tara Bjork, 29, spotted a man sitting at a table, but he wasn’t alone as he had a very unusual plus one. He wasn’t on a date or joined by a friend, but rather, he was seated opposite a blowup doll.
Bjork, from Charlotte, told Newsweek that it was “the strangest thing” she’s ever seen at work. It was so unexpected, and she simply had to capture a video and share it on TikTok (@t_bjork). The clip went viral with over 2.6 million views and more than 450,000 likes, leaving plenty of users speechless.
“When I saw it, I was in shock and awe. It went on for so long and I couldn’t not record it,” Bjork said. “I thought it was insane and I was trying to remain professional for my other tables, but it was a struggle.”
The sight left Bjork with “no words,” and she couldn’t resist sharing it online to see what others thought. While her video was unusual, Bjork says she never expected her video to generate quite as much attention as it has, adding that it’s been a whirlwind experience.
As it turns out, one of the people it reached was the man being filmed, Henry Herrera, who shared his own TikTok showing his perspective.
Herrera, 26, from Rock Hill, South Carolina, told Newsweek that sitting opposite the blowup doll was his “punishment for coming in last place” in a fantasy football league.
Herrera was met with plenty of gasps and awkward staring from the people around him. He noticed a few people recording nearby, so he anticipated that some of them would share it on social media. However, never did he imagine that it would receive millions of views online.
He continued: “Whoever finished in last place of our fantasy league had to suffer a punishment, and before the year started, I threw out this idea and it stuck. A lot of people couldn’t believe that I actually went through with it.
“I thought if somebody got a good enough video that maybe it would get a little traction, but nowhere near all this attention. I have family in the Dominican Republic reaching out saying they saw it and thought it was hilarious.”
It may have been mortifying at the time, but Herrera told Newsweek that the ordeal won’t stop him from competing in the fantasy league again next season. He just hopes he won’t come in last place again.
Bjork’s post has gained more than 6,700 comments in a matter of days, as many social media users were desperate to find out more.
One comment read: “This 100% has to be a fantasy football punishment.”
Another person joked: “He ordered it a drink?! That’s dedication.”
While another TikTok user commented: “I need to know the story behind this.”
Following all the confusion and intrigue, Herrera’s TikTok clip was viewed over 34,200 times and received 5,000 likes. Among the comments on his post, one person wrote: “Sir you have made my entire day!”
And another comment said: “I’m cacklinggggg, you ordered her a salad and all.”
